Why a blog?

I give up, easily.
Anything. Everything.
Because of a lack of confidence.

People won't like me, laugh at me, think I'm stupid.
That is why my entire life I hid away, in dark clothes.
Black, dark blue or grey.
Anything to make me invisible.

I never used make-up in high school because I didn't know how.
My hair was always the same because I had no idea what to do with it (ponytail, tightly pulled back, in case you're curious).

When I was 18 I got married and I wanted a change.
I wanted the real me to come out.
But I still had no clue how.

At 26 I started this blog.
So that I wouldn't give up, wouldn't forget where I was going.

This is my journey, feel free to walk it with me, every step of the way.
All my failures, all my mistakes.
But also my winnings, my happy moments and my bliss.
I'll be honored to have you with me.

We all know Superman,
Or Wonder Woman,
But that's not the kind of hero I want to talk about.

A real hero,
To me,
Is someone who follows his heart,
Their dream,
Like Julie Henno.

She works fulltime,
Has two adorable kiddies,
A household,
A husband,
A dog,
And she still manages to build up her own webshop.

She always wanted to do something,
That was her's,
Something creative,
Something with fashion.

And a few weeks ago,
She just went for it,
And adorable pieces,
That have something special,
Not in a "look at me" way,
But delicate,
And fun,
Like a shirt,
Covered in little pine-apples.

She has a plan,
To expand,
To home-decoration,
And even to a collection of her own clothes.

Her biggest dream,
Is to open a real shop,
Where people can enjoy browsing,
Through all the incredible things,
She finds,
And sells.

I think this is the real Wonder Woman,
The girl that grows up,
With a dream,
A purpose,
A plan,
And the balls to just go for it.

We should all talk more,
About these kind of heroes,
Who have an unbelievable superpower,
To just follow their dream,
And create something that is entirely theirs,
Without fear,
Without hesitation.

Please help this wonderful woman,
To achieve her dream,
Visit her webshop,
Browse around,
And know,
That every item you purchase,
Supports a hero,
A dream.

You can find her shop here:
Or on Instagram here: @jerome_shop

Giants walking Antwerp

InspirationPosted by Fashiondisaster Tue, June 23, 2015 10:54:53

Grandma Giant walked through Antwerp this weekend and everybody absolutely fell in love with her, can you blame us?

It was the third time Royal de Luxe visited our country and we saw them every time, and every time we were overwhelmed with emotions and love.

I know pictures can never bring the same feeling to your heart but I still wanted to share.

Julie & Julia

InspirationPosted by Fashiondisaster Sun, November 24, 2013 15:00:05
Maybe you already know, but I'm an addict.
A serious addict.

I am a movie addict.
We have a closet full of movies in our bedroom.
But, that's not enough.

Since we have digital tv and are able to tape anything from television without being at home, we have a b-box full of movies and tv series as well.

It's that bad that I do all my housework with a tv playing in the background.
I don't know if there is a name for that (like ADHD or something) or that I'm lonely and need a sound in the background, all I know is that it inspires me.

My great husband had taped a movie that I wanted to tape (without him knowing it) but forgot...

It's called Julie & Julia.
It's about a girl who blogs about cooking the entire cookbook of Julie Childs in one year.
It's my new addiction.

Since it was taped I've watched it five times and eight times just pieces of it.
It gives me a feeling of comfort.
The comfort that every beginning blogger has the feeling that he, or she, is just sending things out in to an empty void.
Waiting for the first comment.
The real first comment, not one from somebody you know.

Realizing that we all have to spent a great deal of time on our blogs.
In the evening, when we had a full day of work, and are tired.

We do it because we believe in it and refuse to give up.

Julie (the writer of the blog in the movie) lives in a small apartment and is faced with all the the problems we all have.
Lack of time, money, a good kitchen (mine is falling apart by the way but then again, I don(t blog about cooking, hooray!) and I find that comforting.
Added to that, throughout the movie, you get bits of Julia Child's life as well.

Before she was famous, before she meant anything.
And, she too, had struggles.

I think we all learn to hide our problems, it shouldn't be talked about.
People can use it against us or can laugh at us.
Or, even worse, they can judge us.

Movies allow us to catch a glimpse of real lives of other people.
Having the same problems as us.
It shows us we're not alone.

To all you fellow bloggers, I can truly recommend this movie.
Wether you are blogging about food, fashion or your cat.
Play it in the background, watch it while you're ironing or get cosy on the sofa with a cup of tea.

And, enjoy :)
Realize we're not alone, not a single one of us is alone.
